The last few weeks have been very busy here at littleRÜTZ! You'll be able to tell because this post is all over the place not to mention I've finished it at nearly midnight!
With the shipment of new leather I have been keeping busy cutting out moccasins, running down to Vermilyea Pelle (under the same roof as the American Shoe Shop)to skyve said leather (part of my process-that's a post for another day!), branding, sewing, tagging, crafting displays, the list goes on! And guess what—I am loving every minute of it! Here's a peek of one of my newest creations...still in the works but pre-orders are available now!
Announcing: The Seahawk Mocc!!
Next scattered thought I'd like to share...I was recently interviewed by Kelli Scott of the Wenatchee World Newspaper and Wenatchee Mom Blog. Hop on over there to check it out if you're interested! During the interview she asked me how I found the energy and motivation to start my own business while chasing around a toddler. In truth, I feel like a crazy-chicken-sprinter of sorts. Running around like a, well, crazy chicken until I'm out of steam. And I can do that this early in the game. During the interview I openly admitted that I don't know that I've found my rhythm just yet (obviously, sheesh, crazy-chicken-sprinter-lady!)—but I can feel it coming. I think it's something that will always be in a state of adjustment as business grows. Figuring out when to ask for help has been HUGE! I recently started taking our son to the local learning center where he can spend 3 hours with other buddies learning, exploring and expending that toddler energy. I can get SO MUCH done in those 3 hours, it's absolutely amazing! A couple cups of coffee and some kid-free time does the body good! In an effort to further find balance in my life I've put the word out that I'm looking for someone to help me sew—that will be a huge help and enable me to work on some other exciting aspects of growing this business. Maybe then I will reach a point that I can call myself a crazy-chicken-marathon-runner-lady! Ok, I'm done with chicken references, they're just on my mind as I watch them run around in our yard and am doing some comparative psychology. Ha!
And...Drumroll...What my post title "Getting After It!" is really about...Our son went to the learning center a few times this last week and that's how I ended up having enough time to finish crafting moccasins for the newest littleRÜTZ partnership with...the American Shoe Shop!
With all this energy and enthusiasm going into the littleRÜTZ business while caring for my little guy certain things definitely slip...and I'm learning to be okay with that. I realized that I could not have a clean house AND have food on the table all in one day, I had to choose one. So, on any given evening, if you were to peek your head in our home you would be overwhelmed by the chaos and uncleanliness (or you might totally get it!) but you'd smell good food coming from the kitchen. I focus on fast and healthy one-pot meals. We kind of eat like paupers in that sense. When there's more than 2 different things on the plate we feel like kings. That's just how we roll. I'm working on a Pinterest board that highlights only tried and true recipes for our family. I don't know, maybe it will help you out in some small way, maybe it will help you with "Getting After It!" Whatever your IT may be!
